In May 2016 I was given the honor to give the first Jean Vanier Emerging Scholar Lecture at the Summer Institute on Theology & Disability held in Holland, MI.
The title of the lecture was: Self and community. The importance of interdependence and its shadow side.
The patron of this lecture was L'Arche founder Jean Vanier, 2015 Templeton Prize recipient. The selection committee, which based their decision on my doctoral dissertation, was formed by Bill Gaventa, Hans Reinders and Erik Carter.
The lectureship focuses on disability in relation to spirituality, faith or religion.
